The record stays
on the Mac.

SteadyCare is made by Matthew Worner. There is no SteadyCare account, advertising, tracking, or analytics SDK in the app. This page describes the current demonstration build.

This website

This site uses no analytics scripts and no tracking cookies. The host that serves it may keep ordinary request logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. If you email support, Matthew receives your email address, your message, and any files you attach. Do not send patient information.

What is stored on the clinic Mac

The Mac is the main record. Check-ins, visits, GP notes, transcripts, and summaries you approve are stored in the app on that Mac. Preferences stay on that Mac. There is no SteadyCare cloud that keeps a second copy.

A CSV import is a copy you choose to bring in. SteadyCare does not connect to a practice system, Medicare, or My Health Record. A My Health Record answer on the form is stored as a preference only. There is no live integration and no electronic signature.

The iPhone and iPad

Patients do not create an account or set a password. Each iPhone holds its own draft for the clinic session until the Mac accepts the check-in. GP access uses a one-use pairing code from the Mac, then Face ID, Touch ID, or the device passcode. SteadyCare does not receive biometric templates or the passcode. Signing out all connected devices on the Mac revokes those sessions.

While the Mac is reachable, the GP iPhone can keep a day pack: today’s queue, briefs, and cited excerpts. That pack is what that iPhone can show if the clinic network drops. It is not a second full record.

Check-in on the clinic network

iPhones reach the Mac over the local network. In this build that traffic is not encrypted. Anyone who can join the clinic Wi-Fi should be treated as able to see that traffic. Use it with synthetic demonstration data only. Do not enter real patient details, Medicare numbers, or clinical notes.

Apple Intelligence

Summaries and answers use Apple’s on-device models. Patient records are not sent to an AI service, and there is no cloud fallback. The model can be wrong, incomplete, or refuse. A refusal leaves the raw record in place so you can write the note yourself.

The first time, a Mac or iPhone may need a network connection to download a speech or embedding model. After that, processing stays on the device. Answers are checked for quotations that appear in the supplied record. That check does not make the answer clinical advice.

Recording, microphone, and camera

The microphone is used only after someone starts a recording or a voice answer. Recording a consult requires the patient’s agreement first, and it never starts by itself. Transcription runs on the device. On the GP iPhone, audio is removed after the Mac has stored it. On the Mac, audio is removed after a saved transcript and any speaker step you asked for have finished. If that fails, the audio stays so you can retry or discard it.

A medicine-box scan uses the camera on a real iPhone, for that question. Apple Health readings are read-only and only for the types the patient chooses to add.

Speaker separation

Optional speaker separation downloads a third-party model once and runs it on the Mac. The download is the model file. Audio is not uploaded for it. You assign the voices. This step is separate from Apple’s transcription and summary, and it stays off until you turn it on.

What this build is not for

SteadyCare’s current build is a synthetic-data demonstration. It is not a clinical system of record, it is not encrypted on the clinic network, and it has no production access control for a real practice. Do not use it with real patients.

Deleting data

Removing the Mac app removes the record stored in that app. Removing the iPhone app removes drafts and the day pack on that iPhone. Files you already exported, and anything you copied into another system, stay where you put them. Archived recordings can be restored in the app until you delete them; audio already removed after a successful transcript cannot be restored.
